Many of the titles fill gaps in our holdings of Marylandiana.

During the year, we added many genealogical publications. In-
cluded among these are the genealogies of the Stein, Emison, Knouf,
Medairy, Rice, Wilmot, Thompson, Barrackman, and Townsend fam-
ilies. Mrs. Helen W. Brown has added to her already large collection
of invaluable source records by her gift of Marriages and Deaths in
Washington County, Maryland, 1830-1837, which she collected from
The Republican Banner. Katherine H. Palmer donated a copy of her
Old Trinity Church, Dorchester Parish, Church Creek, Maryland, Birth
Register.

We have continued to supplement our holdings of county and
municipal codes as is required by statute.

As during previous years, our purchases have been limited. Some
of the titles added in this manner were Kenneth CarrolTs Joseph
Nichols and the Nicholites, Harry Kirwin's The Inevitable Success:
Herbert R. O'Conor, and The Biographical Directory of the American
Congress, 1774-1961. We also purchased copies of Constance M.
Green's Washington: Village ana Capital, 1800-1878, and James H.
Whyte's The Uncivil War: Washington during Reconstruction. Our
library now has approximately 6,400 titles.
