The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the following
bills:

A bill, entitled, An act to make valid 1he qualification of John
Merryman, as First Lieutenant of the Baltimore County Horse
Guard;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee on
Militia.

A bill, entitled, An act authorizing and empowering the County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties to
levy a sum of money to pay for the erection of a bridge across
the Patuxant river, at Queen Anne;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Commit-
tee on Internal Improvements.

A bill, entitled, An act appropriating a sum of money to pay
Samuel J. Pentz, (owner of the steamer Pioneer,) William H.
Hamilton, John Bird, J. C. Bush, James Cook, William Lynch,
John Bradshaw, E. S. Thomas, and Edwin Street;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Finance.

A bill, entitled, An act to amend Article 8th of the Code of
Public Local Laws, relative to the powers granted by law to the
President and Commissioners of the village of Port Deposite, by
adding thereto the following section ————;

Which was read the first time, and referred to a select com-
mittee, consisting of Messrs. Heckart, Stone and Nuttle.

A bill, entitled, An act to amend the 4th Article of the Code
of Public Local Laws, by adding thereto the following section,
authorizing the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to increase
the public debt of said city, and repealing section 871 of said
Article;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Finance.

A bill, entitled, An act to amend the 4th Article of the Code of
Public Local Laws, relating to the city of Baltimore, authorizing
the Board of Police of said city to cause the closing of barrooms,
bars, drinking houses, and "liquor shops, in said city, and the sale
or furnishing of liquor thereat, when necessary for the preserva-
tion of the public peace;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Finance.
