they remain in their possession, or in that of their agents
unsold; hospitals or asylums, charitable or benevolent insti-
tutions, so far as used for the benefit of the indigent and
afflicted, and the ground which the buildings used as such
hospitals, asylums, charitable or benevolent institutions shall
actually cover and the equipments owned by by such corpor-
ations or inctitutions.

Which were adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time.
On motion by Mr. Walsh, it was

Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on Claims
be directed to pay to C J. Fox, Official Reporter of the Sen-
ate, the same per diem as allowed the Journal Clerk.

Mr. Getty, from the Committee on Finance, reported fa-
vorably,

House bill entitled an Act for the relief of the sureties on
the official bond of Edwin W. Duvall, formerly Sheriff of
Anne Arundel county.

Which was read the second time.

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the

House bill entitled an Act, making; an appropriation for
the support of the State Government for the year ending the
31st day of December, 1877.

Being upon its second reading,

Mr. Gorman submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Page 4, under the head of "Schools," strike out "460," and
insert "525."

Which was adopted.

Also, by Mr. Gorman,

To the Trustees of the Cambridge Female Seminary, the
sum of $2,000, which shall be in full for any or all amounts
that may become due under the provisions of the Act of
1874, chapter 403.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Walsh submitted the following amendment :
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

To the Mount Vernon Association, represented in this
State by Miss Emily L. Harper, as vice-agent, $1,000 for
the purpose of assisting in protecting and preserving the
home and burial place of George Washington.

Which was adopted.

Said bill as amended, was then read the second time.
