On motion by Mr. Stevens,

The unfinished business being,

House bill No. 242, in relation to the House of Refuge,
providing for the Female House of Refuge; and House bill
No. 243, relating to House of Refuge,

Was postponed and made the order of the day for Monday,
April 3d, immediately after the morning call.

Mr. Lloyd, from the Committee on Finance, reported fa-
vorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to refund to Ttlghman N.
Chance, the sum of $188, the amount of a bail band, interest
and costs forfeited to the State as one of the sureties for Jas.
H. Andrews.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Lloyd, from the Committee on Finance, reported with-
out advice,

House bill entitled an Act to release J. O. Raisin, of
Queen Anne's county, from the obligation of a foreited re-
cognizance.

Which was read the second time.

Also, by Mr. Lloyd, favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal Sub-Sections 3 and 21
of Section 3, of chapter 483 of the Acts of 1874, eutitlei an
Act to repeal Article 81 of the Code of Public General Laws,
title "Revenue and Taxes," and to re enact the same with
amendments," and to re-enact the same with amendments.

With the following proposed amendment :
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

"Section 3. And be it enacted, That the provisions of the
preceding Section, shall not apply to property belonging to
the United States; er to this State, or to any county, or in-
corporated city or town in this State, to houses or buildings
used exclusively tor public worship and the furniture con-
tained therein, and the ground which the said houses or
buildings so exclusively used tor public worship shall ac-
tually cover, graveyards, cemeteries, paying no dividends,
and burying grounds, set apart for the use of any family, or
belonging to any church or congregation, the crop or pro-
duce of any land in this State in the hands of the producer
or his agent; provisions kept for the use and consumption of
the family of the person to whom the same shall belong; the
working tools of mechanics and manufacturers moved or
worked exclusively by hand; wearing apparel of every de-
scription; fish while in the possession of the fisherman em-
ployed in catching, salting and packing the same, and while
