.896 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Apl. 1,

Mr. Knight, from the Committee on Finance, reported
favorably the following bills:

First. House bill entitled an Act to pay to Harry E Loane,
the sum of 103 dollars and 5 cents, for balance due him for
work on the Comptroller's Office, per certificate of the Comp-
troller and President of Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Com-
pany.

Second. House bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum
of money to pay Jethro McCauley, late collector of State
taxes in the 3rd district of Cecil county, the amount over-
paid by him into the Treasury.

Which were read the second time.

Mr. Stevens, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported unfavorably,

House bill entitled an Act for the prevention of intemper-
ance amongst the young men of Maryland.
Which was adopted.

Said bill was then returned to the House of Delegates.
Mr. Bannon submitted the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

April 1, 1876.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We respectfully ask your Honorable Body to return to the
Senate, for further consideration, the House bill entitled an
Act to appropriate money to pave the circle around the
State House.

By order,

AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

Mr. McCulloh, from the Committee on Corporations, re-
ported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Baltimore,
Hampden and Towsontown Railway Company to issue an in-
creased amount of bonds.

Which was read the second time.

Also favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to further amend the charter of
the Baltimore and Drum Point Railroad Company,

Being upon a second reading,
On motion by Mr. Sterner,

Said bill was recommitted to the Committee on Corpora-
tions.
