Mr. Stevens presented the memorial of 1200 citizens of
Allegany county, praying the General Assembly not to re-
duce the rates of tolls of the Cumberland and Pennsylvania
Railroad Company, so as to injure said company and the in-
terests of the people.

The proceedings and protest of a meeting of the citizens of
Allegany county, in regard to the bill affecting the Cumber-
land and Pennsylvania Railroad Company.
Which were read and referred to the Committee on Corpor-
ations.
Mr, Steiner presented the memorial of Wm. H. Laken,
John W. Harget, David C. Heim and 99 others, citizens of
Frederick county, praying the repeal of the Act for the taxa-
tion of dogs, passed January Session, 1874, and the substitu-
tion to another Act in its stead, which said substitute is ap-
pended to the memorial.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.
Mr. Getty presented the memorial of Henry Mulenberg,
B. Welfley, and others, citizens of Garrett county, praying
the repeal of the Law providing for the appointment of School
Commissioners by the Judges of the Circuit Court.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.
On motion by Mr. Stevens,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, to introduce a bill entitled an Act to compensate the
auditor of the Superior Court of Baltimore city, and witnesses
in the case of the State of Maryland vs. the City of Balti-
more, for adjusting and taking testimony in the same.
On motion by Mr. Dennis,
Leave was grantee to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, to report a bill to amend Article 16, title Chancery, of
Code of Public General Laws, sub-title partition, by adding
an additional Section thereto.
On motion by Mr. Getty,
Leave was granted to the Committee on J udicial Proceed-
ings, to introduce a bill entitled an Act making Judgments
of Justices of the Peace in Garrett county, liens on real and
leasehold property.
On motion by Mr. Humphreys,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, to introduce a bill to repeal Section 16, Article 29, of
the Code of Public General Laws, as enacted by chapter 320,
of the Acts of 1874, and to amend and re-enact the same.
