Mr, Joyce submitted the following :

WHEREAS, a report has been circulated that abuses have
existed, and do still exist, in the administration of the office
of the Weigher of Live Stock, located to or about the City of
Baltimore, and that the officer in charge thereof is a defaulter
to the State of Maryland.

Therefore be it ordered, That a Committee of three (3) be
appointed to investigate any such charges, with power to
send for persons and papers, and to report thereon to the
Senate at as early a date as possible.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Joyce, Hepbron
and Gorman.

Mr. McCullough presented the memorial of the Commis-
sioners of Allegany county, praying the adoption of some
measure to preserve and keep in repair the National Road
within the limits of said county.

Which was read and referred to Committee on Internal
Improvements.

The following officers appeared, qualified and entered upon
the discharge of their duties, Jesse F. Gardner, Folder,
James Legg, Police, J. F. Morrison, Com. Clerk, Wm.
Hinebaugh, Folder, J. M. Lowe, Com. Clerks.

Mr. Freeman presented the memorial of Matthew H. Mur-
ray, for a pension.

Which was read and referred to Committee on Pensions.

Mr. Walsh presented the memorial of Wm. A. Durham,
and four hundred other citizens of Harford county, praying
for the repeal or amendment of chapter 439, of the Acts of
1874.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Walsh, Lee and
McCullough.

On motion by Mr. Bannon,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, to introduce a bill to make Good Friday a legal holi-
day in this State.
