The President presented the following communication:
PRINCE FREDERICK, Jan'y 1, 1876.
To the Presiding Officer of the Senate of Maryland:
I herewith transmit the various papers, showing the evi-
dence on the part of Joseph S. Wilson, Esq., contesting the
election of Nathaniel Duke, Esq., to a seat in your Honora-
ble Body. I also send the ballots cast in the Second Elec-
tion District, which Mr. Wilson deems necessary to support
his case.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Elec-
tions.
The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and deliv-
ered the following message :
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
January 10th, 1876.
Gentlemen of the Senate:
We have received your message proposing to appoint a
Joint Committee, to consist of two on the part of the Senate
and three on the part of the House, to wait on his Excel-
lency John Lee Carroll, the Governor elect, and to notify
him of his election, and request his attendance in the Senate
Chamber on Wednesday next at 12 o'clock, noon, to qualify
according to the Constitution, and respectfully concur there-
in. We have appointed on the part of the House Messrs.
Hoblitzell, Neal and Lancaster.
