performed the duty assigned them, and that they had been
requested by His Excellency to inform the Senate that he
would send a communication as soon as it could be properly
prepared.

Mr. Lloyd submitted the following :

Ordered, That two thousand copies of the report of the

Committee, and testimony in the case of the Chesapeake and

Ohio Canal Company be printed for the use of the Senate,

and that the Secretary of the Senate contract for said printing.

Which was read.

The Hon. R. C. Hollyday appeared and delivered a com-
munication from the Executive.
At 12.45 P. M.,

On motion by Mr. Gorman,
The Senate went into Executive Session.
At 1.10 P. M. the doors were again opened.

On motion by Mr. Lloyd,

The order heretofore submitted by him and now pending,
was ordered to lie over until to-morrow.
On motion by Mr. Gorman, it was

Ordered, That the Chairman and Clerk of the Committee
on Claims be allowed the same per diem and mileage for at-
tendance at the Extra Session of the Senate as is allowed the
members of the Senate.
At 1.20 P. M.,

On motion by Mr. Gorman,

The Senate adjourned until 10 A. M., to-morrow, by yeas
and nays as follows :
