Said bill as amended was then read a second time, and or-
derdered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. McLane, from the Committee on Finance, reported fa-
vorably,

House bill for the relief of certain owners of tobacco de-
stroyed in January, 1875, while stored in State Tobacco
Warehouses.

Which was read the second time.
Also, favorably,

House bill to pay the claims of J. Q. Codling, Codling &
Loane and George A. Frederick, for work done and material
furnished at the House of Correction.

Which was read the second time.
Also, favorably,

House bill to authorize and direct the Board of Public
Works to purchase or procure a lot of ground adjoining the
Western Hay Scales.

Which was read the second time.
Also, unfavorably,

House bill to provide for the construction of a fish-way
over or around the Great Falls of the Potomac.

Which were adopted.

Said bill was then returned to the House of Delegates.

Also, favorably,

House bill to pay John H. Handy for professional services
rendered the State.

Which was read the second time.
On motion by Mr. Sulivane, it was

Ordered, That the Committee on Claims allow the sum of
five hundred dollars, the same being the uniform compensa-
tion allowed to the Chaplain of the Senate, to the three Chap-
lains of the Senate for the present session, to be equally di-
vided among them.

Mr. Gorman, from the Committee on Corporations, reported
