needed work upon their respective roads, as comes to his
knowledge, and to report for the action of the Grand Jury
any gross neglect of said road supervisors, and such obstruc-
tion-s to public travel and road nuisances, as come to his no-
tice, and for every day that he may be actually engaged in,
the inspection of the roads of his district, he shall be enti-
tled to charge the same on his account, as County Commis-
sioner, always provided that his entire compensation, as
County Commissioner, shall not exceed the sum of two hun-
dred dollars per annum, as elsewhere provided by law.

Section 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

Mr. Freeman, from a Select Committee, reported favor-
ably,

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Com-
missioners of Baltimore County to borrow the sum of $40,000,
and to provide for the payment of the same out of the levy
for 1878.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Sections 2 and 5, of
the Acts of 1872, Chapter 264, relating to the licensing of
gaugers of casks and liquids in the City of Baltimore, and
to re-enact the same with amendments,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Sections-1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22,
23, 24, 25 and 26, of Article 18, of the Code of Public Local
Laws, title "St. Mary's County," sub-title "Almshouse,"
and to enact a substitute therefor,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to divide the 2d Election Dis-
trict of St. Mary's County and to create an additional Elec-
tion District in said county, to be styled the "Bay" or 8th
Election District,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act supplementary, to an Act enti-
tled, an Act to incorporate The Isabella. Gas Works of Fred-
