by the Act of 1868, Chapter 314, under the name of the Bal-
timore and Swann Lake Passenger Railroad Company, as
amended by the Act of 1874, Chapter 272, and the Baltimore,
Towsontown, Dulany's Valley and Delta Narrow Guage
Railway Company, as incorporated under the provisions of
the Act of 1870, Chapter 476, with powers to construct, man-
age and operate a railway from the City of Baltimore through
Baltimore and Harford Counties to Delta, near the Pennsyl-
vania line,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The President presented to the Senate the following com-
munication from his Excellency, the Governor :

STATE OF MARYLAND,
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, March 8th, 1878.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

I herewith transmit to you, in compliance with your re-
quest, a copy of the opinion furnished me by Hon. Isaac D.
Jones, on the boundary line between Maryland and Virginia,
established by the award of the arbitrators.

JOHN LEE CARROLL.

Together with the opinion of the Hon. Isaac D. Jones,
therein referred to.

Which were read.

On motion by Mr. Lee, it was

Ordered, That 500 copies of the opinion of the Hon. Isaac
D. Jones, on the Maryland and Virginia Boundary Adjust-
ment be printed for the use of the Senators, and that the
said printed opinion be bound with the Senate documents.

House Joint Resolutions instructing our Senators and re-
questing our Representatives in Congress to take such action
as will carry into effect the patriotic design of the Congress
of 1780, in the erection of a monument to the memory of the

lamented and gallant De Kalb, at the City of Annapolis or
Baltimore,

Being upon a third reading,

Mr. Steiner submitted the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Amend by striking out of the title the words "or Balti-
more," and out of the Resolutions, the words "or Baltimore."
Which was rejected.
