Mr. Hayes, from the Committee on Finance, re-
ported favorably, the following bills:
Senate bill entitled an Act to create a commission to
inquire into the distribution of the State school tax,
and to make a report to the next General Assembly
of Maryland.
With the following proposed amendments:
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Strike out all between the word "chairman, " in line
2, of section 3, and the word "and, " the second word
in line 5, of said section.
In section 5, line one, strike out the words "one
thousand, " and substitute therefor the words "five-
hundred. "
Which were adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was read the second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
Senate bill entitled an Act to pay B. J. Sedwick and
W. H. Warren, wages due them as employees in
Warehouse No. 2 during the year 1890.
Senate bill entitled an Act amending the charter of
the Home and Infirmary of Western Maryland in the
City of Cumberland, by repealing section 3 of the
Act of 1890, chapter 190, and re-enact said section
with amendments, providing that seven of the twelve
directors of said corporation be appointed by the
Governor.
Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to pay the claim of the Board of Managers of
the Sylvan Retreat Asylum of Allegany county, for
the support of two insane convicts at the Sylvan Re
treat Asylum for the years 1890 and 1891.
Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the re-
moval of the water-closets from the State House, and
for the erection of the same in building elsewhere,
and for the ventilation of the State House, the clean-
ing of the basement, am1 the renovation of the foun-
dation of the Executive Mansion.
Which were read the second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.
