propriate a sum of money for the purchase of a steam
fire engine for use at and in the vicinity of the villages
of Highlandtown and Canton, in the Twelfth District
of Baltimore county.
Which were adopted.

Mr. Wilkinson, from a Select Committee, reported
favorably the following bills:

House bill entitled au Act to repeal sections 100,
101, 1.02 and 108, of the Code of Public Local Laws,
title "St. Mary's County," sub-title "Roads,"

With the following proposed amendments:
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Amend title by adding after "103 A," 103 B.

Add to section 1, in line 4, after words "103 A,"
words "103 B "

Strike out all after figures "100," in line 5, of sec-
tion 1, and insert as follows:

"That on the Tuesday next after the first Monday
in the month of November, in the year 1892, and on
the same day every two years thereafter, there shall
be held an election for three road commissioners for
St. Mary's county, whose term of office shall begin
on the first Monday of December after their elec-
tion, and .shall hold office for two years and until
their successors shall have been elected and quali-
fied."

Add new section after 103 A, to be known as sec-
tion 108 B, as follows:

"103 B. And be it enacted, That until the first elec-
tion for road commissioners is held as hereinbefore
provided, and the qualification of the officers then
elected, the Governor of the State shall appoint three
citizens of said county to act as road commissioners of
said county, with power and authority to do and per-
form all acts and things that said road commis-
sioners to be elected as herein provided are author-
ized and empowered by this Act to do and perform."

Which were adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time.
