Act to regulate the measurement of peas, beans and
other farm products.
Also,
Joint Resolution tendering the thanks of the State
of Maryland to Commander Richard I. Leary, United
States Navy, and authorizing the Governor to pro-
cure and present to him as a testimonial, a gold chron-
ometer watch suitably inscribed.
Severally endorsed: "Read the third time, and
passed by yeas and nays."
Also,
House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Cam-
bridge Female Seminary, incorporated by the Act of
1888, chapter 201, the Cambridge Academy, incor-
porated by the Act 1812, chapter 123, and the Board
of County School Commissioners of Dorchester county,
to enter into an agreement in reference to academic
and school education in the town of Cambridge.
Endorsed: "Considered, amended, read the third
time, and passed by yeas and nays, with proposed
amendments."
Make section 5 section 6.
Add an additional section to come in after section 4,
to be numbered "Section 5," as follows :
"Provided, however, that the purchase of the afore-
said 69 shares of stock of said Cambridge Female
Seminary, by said School Commissioners of Dorchester,
county, and the contracts mentioned in sections 1, 2 and
3 of this Act, shall not be ratified, confirmed and made
valid, unless the said School Commissioners shall also
purchase the remainder of the one hundred and twenty
shares, which constitutes the whole of the capital
stock of said Female Seminary, the par value thereof,
but if said holders of said remaining shares refuse to
sell the same to said School Commissioners at the
price aforesaid, after having requested so to do by
said School Commissioners then, after the expiration
of sixty days from the date of such request, the pur-
chase of the aforesaid sixty-nine shares and all the
other contracts mentioned in sections 2 and 3 of this
