diem of five dollars ; two folders, two doorkeepers and
two pages, with a per diem of four dollars each ; one
keeper' of documents, who shall also be messenger to
the printer, (to be appointed by the committees on
printing of the senate and house of delegates,) with a
per diem of four dollars ; and a chaplain or chaplains,
with such compensation as the house may determine.

Postmaster.
|
18. There shall be one postmaster for the two houses
of the general assembly, with a per diem of five dol-
lars, (to be appointed by the president of the senate
and speaker of the house of delegates,) who shall be

required to give bond in the penalty of six thousand
dollars, payable to the state of Maryland, and condi-
tioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his
office, with such security as may be approved by the
president of the senate and speaker of the house of
delegates, and it shall be the duty of the postmaster
to render monthly accounts to the committee on claims
of the number and value of stamps purchased by him
for the use of the general assembly, and in what
amounts and to whom distributed.

Keeper of the
rotunda.
|
19. The president of the senate and speaker of the
house of delegates shall also appoint one suitable per-
son to be keeper of the rotunda and committee rooms,
with a per diem of four dollars.

Allowance of
stationery and
postage stamps.
|
20. The secretary of the senate and chief clerk and
reading clerk of the house of delegates may be allowed
the same amount of postage stamps and stationery as
is now or may be by law hereafter allowed to the mem-
bers of the general assembly ; and to each of the other
officers of the senate and house of delegates, stationery-
may be allowed, not to exceed five dollars in value, and
postage stamps to the same amount.
