832 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [Ch. 565]

in all things to do, execute and perform whatever any corpora-
tion and body politic, or individual may, can or might lawfully
do, execute and perform within the scope and for the objects
and purposes of said corporation.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said corporation shall have
power to make, construct, lay down, equip and operate and
maintain a railway for the transportation of passengers and
freight, with double or single tracks with necessary and proper
switches, turnouts, side tracks, offices and depots, and any
and all mechanical contrivances, devices and appliances suitable
to operate a railway and to run thereon cars and carriages drawn
or propelled by steam, electric or other motor power in Somer-
set, Worcester and Wicomico counties, in the State of Mary-
land, beginning at a point at the southern end of Deal's Island,
in Somerset county, Maryland, and running through and over
said island to and through the Town of Princess Anne, in
said county and State, and from said Town of Princess Anne
by and through the Town of Snow Hill to Sinepuxent Bay, in
Worcester county, Maryland, and with the further privilege of
extending the same to the towns of Salisbury, in Wicomico
county, Maryland, and to the town of Pocomoke City, in Wor-
cester county, Maryland, if said corporation shall deem it
advisable; and also the further power and authority to run
such laterals or branches within said counties as the Board of
County Commissioners may permit, not exceeding fifteen miles
from the line of said railroad; and said corporation shall have
the power to charge such reasonable rates for such transporta-
tion of passengers and freight on said railway and any of the
branches or laterals thereof as the board of directors may from
time to time determine; and said corporation shall also have
the power and right to acquire, hold, manage and dispose of any
real or personal property essential, necessary or relevant to the
uses and purposes aforesaid, and also to acquire any real estate,
adjacent to such line of railway or of any lateral or branch
thereof, and to develop and sell said property; and the said
corporation shall also have the power to manufacture, furnish,
sell and use electricity, electric power and light in Princess
Anne, in Somerset county, and to contract for and furnish
electric lights for lighting the streets, roads, public or private
buildings in said town, and of any town or city in said county
within fifteen miles of said railroad, and for motive purposes;
and the said corporation is hereby authorized and empowered to
lay, erect, construct, build or purchase and operate lines of
wire, tubes, posts, conductors and conduits along, under or upon
the streets, squares, lanes, alleys, roads or ways whatsoever in
