COMMITMENT

 

            INDEX TO THE LAWS.

    For valuing the real estates of infants on petition for
sale.  See Chancery.

    For taking testimony—allowance to the clerks,

    When to issue to appoint a guardian to answer for
infants out of the state,
—In such cases the courts may order a commission
to take deposition,

    Punishment for falsely making, forging or counterfeiting,
any commission, or causing the same, or assisting
therein—confinement in the penitentiary not less
than 2 nor more than 10 years,

    To the judges of the courts of law—form prescribed,
—To be varied, so as to designate the chief judge of
the court of appeals,
    Commissions to civil officers to be recorded by the
clerk of the council,
—To justices of the peace, directions for their being
forwarded and entered by the county clerk, and notice
thereof being given,
    Commissioners to be appointed under the act to facilitate
the recovery of debts due from the several banks
in this state, &c.
    See Banks.
    Commissions to take the acknowledgment of non residents
to deeds.  See Acknowledgment.
    Commissions to militia officers under the act of 1807,
ch. 128, declared to be of the same force, &c. as if that
act had not been repealed,
    Allowance to the clerk of the council for militia
commissions,

    Under the act to direct descents.  See Descents.

    Five persons to be appointed for each county,
    Five persons for the city of Baltimore,
    Not to receive more than one per diem for the same
day,
    Oath to be taken by them,
    Directions for filling vacancies,
    No member of the levy court, or orphans court, or
register of wills, to be a commissioner,
    Duties prescribed.  See Valuation of Property.
    Allowance—two dollars each for every day they act,
    Time altered for their meeting in Frederick county,
    The commissioners to value the property of assessors,
    The persons therein named appointed commissioners
of the tax in the respective counties, and the city
of Baltimore,
    Directions to the commissioners in Anne-Arundel,
Talbot, and Somerset counties, to meet and revalue the
property, &c.
—Same in Prince-George's and Cæcil counties,
—Same in Worcester county,
    The commissioners to direct the collectors for the
time being to make conveyances in certain cases of sales
by former collectors,

    Fees on—to be allowed to justices of the peace,
    To be returned to the county courts then established,
    The cause of, to be returned and examined on application,

    The delivery of assets remaining after revaluation, on
the complaint of a joint administrator, to be enforced
by commitment,
