WHEREAS, At a State election held in the month
of September in the year eighteen hundred and
thirty-six, John Stevens Sellman was duly elected
ana returned one of the Electors of Senate for
Anne Arundel County, and the Electors chosen
for the several counties of the State met in the
city of Annapolis on the nineteenth day of said
month of September in the said year eighteen
hundred and thirty-six, and continued in session
without a quorum until the seventh day of October
following, when the said John Stevens Sellman
appeared and duly qualified, and took his seat as
an Elector as aforesaid, and continued to hold his
seat as an Elector until the nineteenth day of No-
vember following, when a constitutional quorum
of the Electors elected at the State election as
aforesaid having appeared and qualified, the body
proceeded to elect, and did elect a Senate as re-
quired by the Constitution of the State ; and
whereas, by Resolution number two of December
Session, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, the
General Assembly directed the Treasurer to pay
to the several Electors of Senate who qualified,
their Clerk and officers, the mileage and per diem
fixed by law, for which they should procure cer-
tificates from the Committee of Claims of the
House of Delegates of said December Session,
eighteen hundred and thirty-six ; and whereas
it appears that all the Electors who qualified did
receive their certificates and were duly paid the
several amounts to which they were entitled, ex-
cept the said John Stevens Sellman, who omitted
to apply to the said Committee of Claims for his
