Defence of this State to be delivered over to James Murray Esqr one
of the Judges of the Court of Appeals on Account
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Sergt Athenatius Thomp-
son & Elias Henry late in the Maryland Line, each, one suit of
Cloaths, one hat, one shirt, two pr Stockings & one Blanket & one pr
Shoes to Sergt Henry part of the Clothing due them

Saturday 22d December 1781.

Ordered that the Issuing Commissary deliver to Mr John Shaw
two Barrels of Flour to be Accounted for.
That the said Treasurer pay to Lieut James Ewing of the Ist
Regimt Fifteen pounds and also to Lieut Gassaway Watkins of the
5th Regiment seven pounds, ten shillings of the Bills emitted under
the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca of the money appro-
priated for the present Campaign on Account
That the said Treasurer pay to Hercules Courtenay, four hundred
and seventy seven pounds, nineteen Shillings and seven pence specie
agreeable to the Act to adjust the Debts due from this State. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Christopher Lowndes, seven hun-
dred and eighteen pounds, two shillings and eight pence specie agree-
able to the Act aforesaid per Acts adjusted & passed by the A Gl
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Capt Brien of the State
Boat Plater, two Coats, two vests, two pair woolen Overalls four
Shirts, four pair Stockings & two pair Shoes, for John Baxter &
Benjamin Burk soldiers in the Maryland Regiment serving on

board the Plater to be charged to them. ——

[Council to Capt. James Lingan]

We have determined that the Men enlisted by you, under the Act
of October Session 1780, shall have it in their Choice, to join such
Regiments of the Maryland Line as they may think proper, to serve
in the Guard over the Prisoners at Frederick Town, or to join
Armands Corps, in Case you can get a Captaincy in it : otherwise, if
they prefer the Horse Service, they must join Lees Legion. As soon
as you let us know the Determination of the Men, we will furnish
you with a recommendatory Letter to Armand, if necessary

[Council to John Bullen Esqr]

Capt. Bryan will take Charge of any Boats you may have im-
pressed for the Purpose of bringing the Beef from Mr Paca's. If
none are impressed, the Captain thinks several are now in the Dock
fit for that Service which we request may be taken immediately and
put under his Direction.
