In obedience thereto the said Instructions are herewith sent
you and the Enacting the sd Laws earnestly recommended to
you by which our Trade will be encouraged and our Tobaccos
Secured from the Damages Sustained as formerly.

Gentlem. You will also by her Majesty's royal Instruction
& the Representation of the Lords of Trade and Plantations
be Sensible of the absolute necessity of impowering some
proper Person to act as our Agent in Great Brittain for want
whereof we may suffer in things most reasonably proposed
by us

Then was read the Petition of Henry Mudd of Charles
County which was referred to the Consideration of the House
of Delegates
Then was read the Rt Honble and Rt Reverd the Lord
Bishop of London's Letter in favour of the Reverend Mr
Christopher Wilkinson by his Lordship sent into this Province
& recommended to officiate as Rector of All hallows Parish
in Somersett County Whereupon It was advised that the
Honble Presidt appoint him to the sd Parish
The Board adjourned until to morrow morning at eight of
the Clock.

Thursday October 25th 1711
The Council Sate Present as yesterday
The Petition of Matthew Mason of Kent County was read
& referred to the House of Delegates
Major Gale and five other members bring from their House
the following answer to the Presidents Speech at the opening
of the Session Viz.

To her Majesty's honble Council
We the Delegates and Representatives at this Time assem-

bled do with all Humility return your Honours our hearty
Thanks for your affectionate Speech to us at the opening of
this Session and your free and candid Communication to this
House of the Rt Honble the Lords of Trade & Plantations
disallowing of the severall Acts passed in the Assembly in the
year 1709 and their Signification if any of those Laws be abso-
lutely necessary for the Welfare of this Province they may be
reenacted doubtless some of them are of great moment and
so far tend to the preservation of the Peace & Tranquillity of
the Province that it would be in Eminent Danger without their
Safe guard
And that we may not be longer wanting to do our Country
the Service of Just & true Patriots thereof the first of our
