462 Assembly Proceedings, Oct. 5-9, 1714.

the Rumour of her Majesty's Death some Justices of several
County Courts may be doubtful whither they have Sufficient

power to hold their several County Courts. Ordered that
notwithstanding the sd Rumour the Justices of the County
Courts hold their Courts and proceed to do the Business of
their respective Countys, All Officers in the Plantations
being by an Act of the fourth & fifth year of the Queen's
Reign continued in their respective Offices during six months
after her Demise

Mr John Rousby her Majesty's Receiver of the District of
Patuxent appeared at the Board and It was ordered that the
sd Receiver pay unto his Excellency John Hart Esqr Gov-
ernour of this Province three full fourths of the one moiety of
the 2s p hhd by him received

Mr Hill and three more brought up the Journal of the
Committee of Accompts which was read & assented to by the
Council & sent to the House by Col Young

Mr Greenfield & Mr Brook brought up the Bill for assess-
ing the publick Levy this present year Endorsed

Read by the Delegates the first & second time by special
Order & will pass

And the sd Bill by especial Order being read in Council the
first & second times & Endorsed will pass was sent to ihe
House by Col Addison

Mr Lockerman & Mr Charles Wright brought up the En-
grossed Bill for assessing the publick Charge of this Province
& appointing a Committee for apportioning the same this
present year 1714

Read & assented to by the House of Delegates which was
likewise read & assented to by the Council

And Lt Col Tilghman was ordered to acquaint Mr Speaker
and the Delegates that the Council have Assented thereto
And if they have not any other Business before them His
Excellency directs them to attend him in Council.

The sd Lt Col Tilghman returns & says he delivered his
Message.

And immediately Mr Speaker & the Delegates came & Mr
Speaker presented to his Excellcy the Governour the afd Bill
for adjusting the publick Charge of this Province & appoint-
ing a Committee to apportion the same this present year 1714

To which Bill his Excellcy was pleased to give the royal
Assent by Sealing the same under the great Seal used in this
Province & Subscribing It Viz.
