be sufficient, 'til after the Meeting of our Assembly, the Gover-
nor Wrote to our Delegates in Congress, desiring they would
procure a Recommendation of Congress to enable us to per-
mit about that Quantity to be purchased and exported. The
Recommendation of Congress stands indefinite; we do not
know what Quantity you are desired to purchase, but we can-
not consider ourselves at Liberty to permit more than the
2000 Barrls, unless the Assembly, on its Meeting should en-
large the Quantity, which we think they probably will, on any
reasonable Satisfaction being given to them that more is
necessary. The Difficulty of getting Flour for the Army and
the French, makes us desirous and we hope will make the
Assembly desirous that there should be as few rival Purchasers

Summons issued for Thomas Boyd, James Beck & Hugh
Lyon to Testify on a Hearing of the Petition of Fielder Bowie
against the Sheriffs election for Prince Georges County
A Petition of Fielder Bowie of Prince Georges County
complaining of an undue and irregular election of Sheriffs for
the said County being presented to this Board. It is ordered
that an hearing on the said Petition be had before the
Governor and Council at Annapolis on Tuesday the 2d Day
of November next and that a Copy of this order be served
Thomas Williams on or before Saturday the 2 3d day of this
Instant and that Summon's issue for Witnesses on the Appli-
cation of any of the Parties
Permission granted in Pursuance of the Recommendation
of Congress of the 2d Instant to the Schooner Willing Maid
belonging to Mess" Thomas Archer & Co of Virginia com-
manded by Capt Hunt to Lade and transport to Virginia for
the use of that State, a Cargoe of Flour, a Manifest of such
Cargoe being lodged in the Naval Office at Baltimore and the
vessel there cleared out and a Bond being to this State in the
Penalty of one thousand Pounds with good and sufficient
Security conditioned that if the said Cargoe shall be delivered
to the proper Officer appointed to receive the same in
Virginia the Danger of the Voyage excepted and that a
Certificate of such Delivery from the Board of War of the
said State of Virginia, shall be produced to the Governor and
Council of this State within two Months from the Time of the
said Vessel clearing out then the Obligation to be void &ca
