Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to James
Murphey a Soldier, late of Capt Lucas's Company of the old
Maryland Regiment who lost one of his Legs in Consequence
of a Wound received in the Battle on Long Island in 1776,
two hundred Pounds so much allowed him up to the first Day
of next Month by this Board by Virtue of the Resolution of
the General Assembly of the 9th of August last
That the said Treasurer pay to Eleanor Gibson ninty
Pounds an Allowance made her up to the first Day of next
Month by the Governor and Council by Virtue of the Reso-
lution of the General Assembly of the 14th August Last
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Samuel Maddin
a 9 Mo Soldier in the 5th Regimt discharged the Amount of
Twenty nine Pounds, ten shillings in Cloathg due him per Act
of Assembly to procure Troops for the A. Army

Monday 25th October 1779

Present as on Saturday except T Sim Lee Esqr
Commission issued to John Selby junr elected Sheriff of
Worcester County
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Com0
Thomas Grason five hundred Pounds on Account
Sold James Tootell 45 Pikes at £5 each. Order given to
Como Grason and Mr Shaw to deliver them and receive the
money
Commission of a letter of Marque and Reprisal issued to
Thomas Sanders Commander of the Brigantine Queen of
France, 130 Tons Burthen, navigated by 40 Men, mounting
12 Carriage Guns, 6 Swivels and 24 small Arms, belonging to
John Dorsey & Compy of Baltimore

Phila Octr 25th 1779
My Dear Sir,
I am favored with your Excellencys Letter of the 22d Inst
Our situation is truly alarming from the depreciated State
of our money. Tho' for eight days past Gold has been falling
in value dayly, from 35 for one it is now at 26. But Goods &
produce raising.
Flour is so essentially necessary at this time, that every ex-
pedient must be made use of to procure it.
Congress have applied for Loans in Europe & lately inforced
their applications and there is now some prospect of Success.
I have still hopes that the Back Lands, at least a consider-
