Monday 24 May 1779

Present as on Saturday
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Robert
Reith Fourteen Pounds Eleven shillings and Eight Pence as
Messenger to the Governor & Council to the 23d Inst. & also
the further Sum of Eight Pounds per Acct passed by the Depy
Aud.
That the said Treasurer pay to Jonathan Parker Eighty two
Pounds ten shillings Bala of Account passed by the Depy Aud.
That the said Treasurer pay to Lieut. John Hardman of the
2d Regimt Three thousand Dollars to be expended in the Re-
cruiting Service, he being appointed and having Genl Small-
woods Instructions of the 9th April for that purpose.
That the said Treasurer pay to Lieut John Hardman seventy
two Pounds for the use of William Veazey 3d due him per
Acct passed by the Depy Aud.
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Johnson junr out of
the money sent by Congress for the purchase of Wheat &
flour, Forty thousand Pounds to be sent and charged to Samuel
Gilpin of Cecil County & to be accounted for
That the said Treasurer pay to William Merrit, Thirty
thousand Pounds to be by him delivered over to Colo William
Henry to be expended in the Purchase of Wheat and Flour
and Accounted for
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Com0
Thomas Grason seven hundred and seventy four Pounds
seven shillings and six pence on Account
That the said Treasurer pay to Colo Joshua Beall Forty two
Pounds, Eleven shillings and three pence and also the further
Sum of Twenty six Pounds, Eleven shillings and three pence
due him per Accounts passed by the Depy Aud
That the Armourer deliver to Richard Bryan 300 lbs Lead,
& 500 Gun flints to be delivered over to Henry Hooper Lieut
of Dorchester County for the use of said County
The Militia of Colo Weems and Colo Robinsons Battalions
ordered to Annapolis having as represented to this Board by
their Officers, shewed such a strong Desire to be discharged
that there is too much Reason to belive that many of them
will go to their Homes without if they do not obtain Permission
some of them having already gone without Leave. This
Board think it more advisable to discharge them for the
present especially as they have no late Intelligence from
whence it may be collected that the Enemy design up the Bay
immediately if at all, And it is accordingly ordered that the
said Militia be discharged for the present and proper Signals
fixt and agreed on for their reassembling again at Annapolis
