though we do not know any Place so convenient or where we
might so probably have got them in. Presuming on your
Inclination to assist the Public at such a luncture, we have
ordered them forward, the Occasion will not permit Delay, we
desire & expect to make you a reasonable Compensation

Present as on yesterday
Ordered that the Commissary of Stores deliver to Lieut
Gale 2 pr Shoes
That the said Commissary of Stores deliver to Lieut Isaac
Rawlings 2 pr Shoes
That the said Commissary of Stores deliver to Capt Wm
Campbell 2 pr Shoes
Commissions issued to Nicholas Aldridge appointed Ens.
of Capt Basil Burgesses Compy and also to Thomas Cole ap-
pointed first Lieut of Capt Charles Whites Compy belonging
to the Elkridge Batt of Militia in Ann Arundel County
Whereas it is represented to this Board by Robert Buchanan
Assistant Commissary of Purchases in this State that he hath
now Stored in Baltimore Town a Quantity of Salt to the
amount of about ten thousand Bushels purchased for the use
of the Continental Army and now the property of the United
States and it appearing to this Board that if the Force of the
Enemy now invading the State of Virginia should as there is
reason to be apprehensive of, be employed against this State
the said Salt would be hazarded This Board are of opinion the
said Salt ought to be removed to different places for its greater
Security. Wherefore you are hereby directed and empowered
to empress Boats, Shallops and other small Vessels and their
Hands sufficient for the Transportation and removal of the
said Salt to such places in this State on the said Robert
Buchanan or the Commissary General of Purchases or such
Person as shall act under him shall in this Behalf direct and
all the said Vessels are to be discharged within the Time
Limitted by Law.

You are hereby impowered ann directed to empress any
Number not exceeding ten Waggons and sufficient Horses
for the same for the removal of the Continental Flour now
in Baltimore Town to place in its Neighbourhood of more
Security discharged such as you may impress according to
