Artistic Property FY 2000 Budget Request
The Archives is proposing a program that will fully document the State
House, conserve the decorative arts on display there and elsewhere
in the Annapolis campus of state buildings, refurbish and update the exhibits,
and provide for ceremonies after the construction and conservation work
is completed in the spring of 2000.

1. Items included are 55 paintings with 55 frames @$2,000 each, a total of $110,000 and 200 decorative items: 70 chairs, 30 desks, 100 misc. objects such as candlesticks, andirons, iron chest @$100 each, a total of $20,000. Request is $130,000Funding Distribution:
2. Estimate based on 1988 Getty survey of the Peabody Collection, 50% matching funds from borrowing institutions, $132,780 general funds, $132,780 special funds. Total request is $265,560.
3. Exhibit design, $17,500, 2 kiosks @25,000 is $50,000, refurbish current exhibits $75,000, and the gala opening $25,000, a total of $167,500.
4. Funded with 50% matching grants, $48,942 general funds, $48,942 special funds.
5. Wage at Archivist 3 base $28,172 plus 8% fringe 2,254, $30,426. Two years of help with the historic structures report and the conservation of the state-owned art collection.
