Welcome to the Conservation Lab at the Maryland State Archives

What does the Conservation Lab do?

We are responsible for the preservation and conservation of the collections of the Maryland State Archives.

The Conservation Lab directs and manages the Archives' comprehensive conservation program. We propose, develop, implement, and monitor the physical care, conservation and long term preservation of archival materials. The Lab coordinates and integrates conservation and preservation into a larger archival context. The preservation of records allows for accesibility, which is a main componenet of the Archives' mission.
