Findlay, 1869 Charter Member, Maryland State Bar Association, 1896-1897 Faculty member, University of Maryland School of Law, 1884-1907 Public Service: Member, City Council, Baltimore City, 1860 U.S. Representative (D), Maryland, 1865-1869 State manager, House of Reformation for Colored Children, Prince George's County, 1872 Commissioner, public schools, Baltimore City, 1876 Associate Judge, Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, 1882-1908 Comments: Appointed to the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City by Governor William T. Hamilton. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War, and rose from the rank of Colonel of the Maryland Volunteers to brevetted brigadier general. Awarded Congressional Medal of Honor, 1898. Part of the “New Judge movement” in 1882. |
