Comments:
During the Civil War served as General Robert E. Lee’s aide de camp and personal secretary. Accompanied General Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865, and drafted terms of capitulation for the surrender of Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia to General Ulysses S. Grant. On the 1st Committee on Nominations for the Bar Association of Baltimore City, 1879.
