Co-founder, American Bar Association, 1878. Co-founder & President of the Maryland Historical Society. Co-organizer of the Maryland Institute College of Art, 1851 Named one of the pre-eminent Maryland lawyers and judges of the 18th and 19th centuries. Designed the entrance to Druid Hill Park on Madison Street in 1860. Invented the "Latrobe Stove" also known as "The Parlor Heater”.
