Attorney.  Counsel to National Wildlife Federation, Washington, D.C., 1969-70.  Military Judge, U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps, 1970-74.  Commander in U.S. Naval Reserve.  Vice-Chair, State Commission on the Capital City.  Member, Chesapeake Bay Commission; Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee; Governor's Council on Child Abuse and Neglect; Maryland Environmental Trust; Governor's Advisory Council on Recycling.  Selected Outstanding Young Annapolitan, 1976; Conservation Legislator of the Year by the Maryland Wildlife Federation, 1981, and the Clean Water Action Project, 1985.  Selected Legislator of the Year by Anne Arundel County Psychological Association, 1981, by Solar Action of Maryland, 1982, by District 3 of Maryland Nurses Association, 1983, by Maryland Public Health Association, 1987, and by Audubon Naturalist Society, 1988.  Awarded Certificate of Merit by Common Cause, 1984.  Selected Outstanding Conservationist by Sierra Club, 1985.  Man of the Year, Annapolitan Magazine, 1990.
