Personal Comments and Observations:
"The major contribution I feel I made to the Senate
was to organize 50 women's groups to draft and pass the state's first anti-stalking
bill and the 1994 comprehensive domestic violence bill. I am not
sure if they continue to work as a coalition, but it was far more effective
than 50 different bills on the same issue."
"...The greatest single struggle I experienced with
the General Assembly was the 1984/85 Retirement fight. However, since
I ran a campaign for the senate on a single issue, I suppose my election
to and presence in the Senate signaled the passage of the Freedom of Choice
bill for women in Maryland in 1991."
