3 The Court apparently ceased to function in 1775, because the last entry is the Vice Admiralty commission to Robert Smith, dated November 27, 1775, and no cases thereafter are reported. The Maryland Court of Vice Admiralty was impliedly abolished on May 25, 1776, when the Maryland Convention established a "state" court of admiralty, primarily to try English prize ships.
