"They [J. D. and Mary] were the parents of four children, two of whom
survive: . . ." Birth and death cerificates were not recorded in any
sort of rigorous fashion in the counties until 1898 in Maryland, and there
is no record of their other child in the few county certificates that survive.
If there is a record of the birth, it is probably in the records of the
Grace Evangelical Reformed Lutheran Church. However, I do not have access
to those records at this time.
