DESCRIPTION : THIS SMALL MAP APPEARED IN THE LONDON MAGAZINE OF AUGUST, 1757, OPPOSITE PAGE 376 IN VOL. 26. LITTLE IS KNOWN OF THIS MAP, BUT IT REPRESENTS NO FORWARD PROGRESS IN THE REGION'S CARTOGRAPHY. THE MAJOR CITIES, TOWNS, ROADS, RIVERS, STREAMS, FERRIES, FORTS AND WATERFALLS ARE SHOWN. THE RIVERS ARE POORLY DRAWN.

THOMAS KITCHIN [KITCHEN] LIVED FROM 1718 TO 1784. HE WAS AN ENGRAVER, PUBLISHER AND HYDROGRAPHER TO THE KING. HE WAS PROLIFIC IN HIS OUTPUT, HAVING WORKED FOR VARIOUS PUBLISHERS INCLUDING BOWEN, DALRYMPLE, DUNN, ELPHINSTONE, JEFFERYS, LONDON MAGAZINE, LUTTRELL, AND MACKENZIE & WILLDEY. MOST OF HIS OUTPUT FOR THE LONDON MAGAZINE WAS FROM 1760 TO 1765.
