THE DISPUTED FRENCH AND ENGLISH AREA IS SHOWN IN PINK. THE BOUNDARIES OF THE COLONIES ARE SHOWN IN DOTTED LINES EXTENDING TO THE MISSIS- SIPPI RIVER. TIRION LIVED FROM 1705 TO 1765. HIS WIFE CONTINUED THE SHOP FOR TEN YEARS AFTER HIS DEATH. KOEMAN STATES THAT TIRION HIMSELF PROBABLY WAS NOT THE AUTHOR OR EDITOR OF THE MAPS PUBLISHED BY HIM. HE WAS MORE A BOOKSELLER AND PUBLISHER THAN A GEOGRAPHER OR CARTOGRAPHER.
