The Maryland State Archives has the most complete collection of historical documents of any of the 13 original colonies. Included in its holdings are colonial and state records dating back to the founding of the colony in 1634, county probate, land and court records, church records and many other records relevant to genealogical research.
The Maryland State Archives is the historical agency for Maryland and serves as the central depository for government records of permanent value. Its public search room is open Tuesday - Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - noon and 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. There are professional archivists on duty to assist researchers.
