This version of the Charter appears bound together in a book entitled A Relation of the Successefull beginnings of the Lord Baltemore's Plantation in Mary-land: The Charter of Maryland. The Calverts and their allies published it to entice potential settlers and investors in coming to the new colony or to help finance its development. It documents the founding of the Maryland colony in 1634 at St. Mary's City.
