Contest Theme: "The Body Politic Revisited...Maryland's Colonial Governors, 1634-1776"

Contest Rules:

• Students may choose to research the life, administration, and accomplishments of one particular governor during 1634-1776;
• Each student may enter either one written essay OR one webpage;
• Written essays must be at least 1000 words and no longer than 1500 words;
• Only one webpage entry per class;
• Webpage entries must be submitted a paper copy with url address, if available;
• High school contestants must be students in Maryland schools in grades 9-12;
• The topic for elementary school students is Leonard Calvert;
• Elementary school entries must be from either third or fourth grade classes in Maryland schools;
• Entries must be received no later than March 10, 2001. Send entries to:

• Entrants must include with their entry the following:
• Name
• Home mailing address
• Age
• Grade and school
• Name of school principal
• The decisions of the judges will be final;
• All entries become the property of the Maryland Colonial Society and will not be returned to contestants.
