This portrait of Frances Hughes Glendening was commissioned by the Government House Foundation and executed in 2003 by Aaron Shikler, a world-famous portraitist. Mr. Shikler has painted portraits of Ronald and Nancy Reagan and John and Jacqueline Kennedy, all of which are in the White House collection. He has also painted Queen Noor of Jordan, Barbara Walters, Diana Ross, and Giorgio Armani among his many famous subjects.  His work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Portrait Gallery, the Brooklyn Museum, the National Academy of Design, and many other museums, public buildings, and private collections. This portrait of Mrs. Glendening depicts her in the gown she wore to Governor Glendening's first inaugural ball on January 18, 1995.
