Holsey Butler

Biography:

Holsey Butler was a young enslaved boy who lived and worked on the Calvert County farm of Martha Wilson. In 1814, seven year old Holsey Butler set out from Martha Wilson's property on a small boat with thirteen other slaves towards British ships lying in the Patuxent river. The British vessell accepted the slaves coming aboard. Following the war Martha Wilson filed a claim for the loss of her 14 slaves.
