Biography:

Mariah Reeves was born in Maryland to Richard and Priscilla Reeves. Mariah along with her parents and her four siblings Anne, Bill, Priss, and Mildred (Milley) were enslaved at the home of Joseph and Mary Lyles Coombs in the Swan Creek Neck area of southern Prince George's County, Maryland.  

At the age of 15 Mariah and her family escaped to British ships that were in the Potomac River.
