Biography:
Robert was an enslaved man who was owned by Dr. Thomas C. Gantt
of Calvert County, Maryland. In August of 1814, Robert escaped from
Thomas Gantt and fled to a British vessel. Robert was 41 years of age
and valued at $400 when he escaped.
