Biography:

Priscilla "Prissy" Maddux was a resident of Somerset County, MD. In November of 1814, Prissy Maddux enslaved man Joe, a slave for life, escaped to the Britisih vessel HMS Regulus

Following the war Prissy Maddux and John Miles submitted their claim for losses together. The claim was submitted for compensation that Maryland property owners felt they were owed for the loss of their enslaved property, tobacco, livestock, and additional household items. Maddux was awarded $280 for the loss of her enslaved man Joe.
