Biography:

In 1828,  Ann Chew filed a claim for Philemon L. Chew, deceased. A 28 year old negro man, James, belonging to Philemon Chew was carried of by the British in October 1814. Ann Chew was the executrix of Philemon L. Chew's estate and sought compensation by filing a claim for lost property. The claim was submitted by Joseph Kent to John Quincy Adams at the Department of State. Ann Chew was awarded $280 for the loss of James who was valued at $300. 1  

Ann Chew died June 20, 1827 at Herring Bay, Anne Arundel County, MD.
