Biography:

Edward Coulbourn was a property owner who lived in Somerset County, Maryland. Coulbourn married Sally P. Broughton  on March 24, 1801. Edward and Sally became the parents of two children, William and Sarah Coulbourne. 

In the year 1812, America went to war with Great Britain. Edward Coulbourn would serve as a private during the war. While the war was underway, enslaved people from the Chesapeake began to flee to British vessels. In 1814, Coulbourn's enslaved man Robert Colbourn escaped from him and fled to a British vessel lying in the Tangier Sound. After the war ended, Bob Coulbourn resettled in Trinidad. Edward Calhoun submitted a claim for the loss of his enslaved man Bob. Calhoun sought compensation for having his slave carried of by British vessels. 

In 1818, Coulbourn manumitted an enslaved man Elzey Jenkins. 

Edward Coulbourn died intestate about 1832 in Somerset County.
