Biography:

In September 1831, Peter Reader and Daniel Jackson fled their enslavement on Henrietta O'Neale's farm. The widow of Laurence O'Neale,1 Henrietta advertised for Jackson and Reader's capture in the Daily National Intelligencer. She described Reader as "about nineteen years old, five feet nine or ten inches high, very well made, dark complexion, and a full round forehead; had on when he went away, a faded blue coat, striped pantaloons, and a half worn white hat." The ad ran from October 1831 until May 1832.2
