Biography:
In September 1831, Daniel Jackson and Peter
Reader fled their enslavement on Henrietta
O'Neale's farm. O'Neale advertised
in the Daily
National Intelligencer
for the fugitives' capture from October 1831 to May 1832, describing
Jackson as wearing "a suit of half worn blue cloth, [and a] new black
fur hat." She further described Jackson as "a mulatto, or rather
a copper color, twenty-two years old, about five feet, five or six
inches
high, very well made, rather a low forehead, and smiles when spoken to."1
