Biography:

At the age of twenty-seven, William Chion successfully escaped from his master, Mr. Tubman, with his wife, Emma.  After escaping, the couple changed their last name to "Williams" and may have changed their first names as well.  Though little has yet been recovered about his life after escape, Chion is known to have reached Philadelphia, PA, and was aided there by individuals connected to the Underground Railroad.
